Welcome to the ACCP

The ACCP or Association of Competitive Cornish Paddlers was set up in 1998 as a way of generating a Cornish team for the annual Inter-Celtic Watersports Championships and to promote paddling events around the county. These events are open to all paddlers so please feel free to come down and have a go. If you’re not on our mailing list or we’ve missed any events from our diary please get in touch and we’ll try to up-date our lists throughout the year. Contact our data base secretary.

Some of these events have been running for years whilst others are comparatively new. Last year we linked nine of these new events together to form a Cornish Paddlesport Championship and we will be doing the same again in 2001.

The enclosed poster lists those events that will form the Cornish Championship. You don’t have to do them all and you’re welcome to come along and just have a go as you please but if you want to qualify for the championship then you’ll need to have competed in at least five championship events. For those of you who are unfamiliar with any of our events you can rest assured that you will be given plenty of advice, help and may also be able to borrow equipment. Categories for this Championship include:-

• Juniors (17 or under during the whole of 2001)
  
• Senior Men
  
• Senior Women
  
• Veterans (50 and over during the whole of 2001)
  

Our aim is to find the Cornish Paddlesport Champion for the year 2001 and present them with the Fantastic Largs Trophy. The 2000 event was a very close contest and because of our points scoring system all classes of competitor have a fair chance of winning.

• Scoring system in brief: Your position divided by the number in your class.
  
• Exceptions for a small class: Maximum score for a winner is 0.5.
  
• The five lowest scores will give you your championship score: Lowest score wins.
